After you pack, plan, budget, and get your RV serviced at a reliable Texas RV dealership, you’re ready to hit the road! If you want to take a short trip for the weekend in your Texas recreational vehicle, you can take the kids to any one of these area campsites with beaches — or if you are getting away on your own, no kids are required!
Malaquite Beach: This beach is for picnicking and camping. If you have kids who love the beach, they will enjoy this, as the beach is long — it has plenty of room for sand castles or just relaxing if you are without kids. The park does have covered picnic tables if you want to have a picnic on the beach instead of at your campsite.
Lake Corpus Christi / Mathis KOA: Any kid or kid at heart will enjoy the Lake Corpus Christi / Mathis KOA. You won’t run out of things to do after you get tired of building sand castles. And if the waves are too much for you on the coast, you can head over to the lakefront beach. Enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, birding and arrowhead hunting. If you have younger kids, you can opt to boat on the lake rather than off the coast. Choose from salt water or fresh water fishing activities.
Laguna Shore Village: Laguna Shore Village is another campsite on the beach, so that you can enjoy sea breezes and the waves. If you have pets, Laguna Shore Village is pet friendly. This campground also has handicapped access.
All campgrounds have RV camping and hookups. They also have shower facilities, should you need them. Because these campgrounds are right on the beach, call ahead to be sure there is an open spot. Check rates before you go — some campgrounds allow kids to camp for free!
If you are camping from out of the area, enjoy the attractions around Corpus Christi, including the Botanical Gardens, Museum of Science and History or take a tour of the USS Lexington.
If the kids get bored with the beaches and fishing, visit a wildlife refuge or you can take a whooping crane boat tour.
If you have other area activities to recommend please do!
