National Go Fishing Day

June 18, is National Go Fishing Day, and that means it’s time to start planning your next fishing trip in your RV. Fortunately, you don’t have to travel far to find some of the best fishing spots in the state. These three unbeatable fishing destinations are right here in Corpus Christi, so grab your fishing pole and don’t miss National Go Fishing Day.
Aransas Bay
The gorgeous Gulf of Mexico is more than a place for cooling down on hot summer days. The Gulf offers a selection of reefs, barrier islands, flats and marshes that are ideal for catching fish. The Aransas Bay marshes are some of the best places to cast a line from your boat or fishing kayak. They’re hotspots for catching redfish, flounder, trout, red snapper, marlin, shark, tuna and other species.
Lake Corpus Christi
Lake Corpus Christi is a scenic place to park your RV and enjoy some of the state’s best fishing just steps away. Bring your boat or cast a line from the shore, and you’re likely to reel in largemouth bass, crappie, white bass, a variety of catfish, bluegill sunfish, redear sunfish and a long list of other fish species. Lake maps are available at the state park office, and local fishing maps can be found at most bait stores, so you don’t have to be an expert on the area before you arrive.
Choke Canyon Reservoir
If you’re interested in catching loads of largemouth bass and catfish, head to the Choke Canyon Reservoir. The Choke Canyon State Park offers boat launch facilities and camping accommodations, so you can enjoy easy access to the fish-filled waters. The area’s large amount of submerged vegetation and rocky shorelines make it a hotspot for bass in excess of 10 pounds.
