The 28th Annual Highland Village Balloon Festival, from Aug. 14 to 16, offers fun for the whole family. You’ll enjoy the hilarious weiner dog races, the car show, a 5K run, a kid zone, live music, food vendors and plenty of arts and crafts. However, the best part of the show is admiring the countless colorful hot air balloons.
The North Texas State Fair and Rodeo
Head to Denton from Aug. 21 to 29, for the anticipated North Texas State Fair. Visitors are counting down the days before they can ride the rides, attend the rodeos, check ut the livestock shows, enjoy tasty fair food and watch famed bands like Sam Riggs and the Charlie Daniels Band. And don’t be afraid to bring your kids along for the journey, because there will be an exciting kids zone at the North Texas State Fair this year.
Margarita and Salsa Festival
There’s no better way to end the month of August than with a visit to the 20th Annual Margarita and Salsa Festival at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas. The festival will be held on Aug. 29, and is expected to draw roughly 10,000 attendees for country music, tasty margaritas, delicious eats and plenty of other excitement. All proceeds will benefit the scholarship program at the Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo, so you can feel good while sipping on your favorite sour drink.
